About Me
Janet Lynn Johnson is graduating from Texas Woman’s University May 2010 with a Ph.D in Rhetoric.
Janet was born to a Union Carbide supervisor and a stay at home mom in Harlingen, Texas in 1971. When Janet was eleven her dad’s company transferred her family to Central New Jersey. Janet is a graduate of Hillsborough High School Class of 1990. Soon after high school graduation her family again moved back to the state of Texas–this time to the Dallas/Ft. Worth area.
Janet attended The University of Texas at Arlington. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Broadcast Communications. She then became a television news producer. After her stint at several television stations, she decided a news career was not a long term career goal. She then pursued other media jobs while eventually deciding to go back to school to earn her Ph.D.
Janet holds a Master of Arts in Journalism and will have a PhD in Rhetoric. She currently teaches at The University of Texas at Dallas where she teaches Introduction to Web Writing and Introduction to Computer-Mediated Communications. She has also taught various journalism courses at The University of North Texas.
Janet hopes this blog will allow her to interact with various professionals in the academic, new media and rhetoric fields.
