Low-Fat Diet decreases Ovarian Cancer chances

without comments

Doctors show that low fat diets may help decrease chances of the silent killer–ovarian cancer.  I think low fat diets may decrease chances of many cancers.  I know I’ll be increasing my fiber and eating a more low-fat diet.  My mom died of complications from ovarian cancer in August.  She also had breast cancer.  She ate a low-fat diet and was an avid exerciser.  So, can cancer be prevented?  Was it the estrogen replacement therapy that caused the ovarian cancer.  How can women who have their yearly exams be tested thoroughly?  Are we ignoring the woman’s body and putting more research into colon and prostate cancer.  For such a rare cancer I’ve talked to many women whose mother’s died of ovarian cancer.  I have so many unanswered questions, will a diet even help?

More Fiber, Less Fat Help Prevent Ovarian Cancer

TUESDAY, Oct. 9 (HealthDay News) — Older women who stick to a low-fat, high-fiber diet could cut their odds for deadly ovarian cancer, new research shows.

In fact, postmenopausal women who stayed on the regimen for more than eight years reduced their risk for the disease by 40 percent, a U.S. team said. Those who saw the greatest benefit from the low-fat diet were women who had originally eaten a relatively high-fat diet, the researchers added.
